The Boyden Farm has long provided public access to the Lamoille River. When the Vermont Land Trust secured an easement for the farm, provisions were also made for public access to the river. However, a river access trail was never formally created.

Through a partnership with a NorthWoods Clean Water crew, and with support from the Lake Champlain Basin Program, we addressed erosion and helped facilitate public access. The crew installed a series of stone steps along the path, along with drainage dips to redirect stormwater runo-ff. Using an old canoe donated by steering committee member Peter Ingvolstad, we added creative ettiquette signage and a map at the parking area.
